Stella And Dot

Hey, I wanted to talk a little about Luxe Jewels By Stella and Dot. Have you heard of them? It is a Party Plan Company that sells Jewelery. It looks to me like one of the better Jewelry party plan businesses out there. The Chief Creative Officer Blythe Harris has an impressive resume that you can read about in the catalogue. Her influence comes from different cultures around the world such as Mexico and Paris.
Stella and Dot offers many different collections for many different tastes. Many items are Sterling Silver or 14kt gold-plated *vermeil. They have "Just for Girls" necklace kits that includes everything needed to make a girl's necklace. As well, there are sterling silver alphabet charms and unique sentiment charms. There are different rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and what I think is great are the removable Stone Pendants to go with their burnished Link chains, as well as many other different styles of chains.

Stella and Dot offers trendy and classic style at a wide range of price points all suited for a fun, fashion forward, sophisticated stylish gal.
It will cost you $139.00 CAN for a custom starter kit. After that you have 7 days to spend another $175 on samples. That's another $350 in retail products at 50% off. The commission you will earn by selling Stella and Dot products is 25-30%. The company offers travel opportunities, incentives, and a BMW.

There really is alot of info on the Company Website about business opportunities. Personally, I like to stay focused on the MLM's products and quality, cause if the products stink, or are too expensive I wouldn't want to sell them and don't recommend anyone else sell them.

I really can't say enough great things about what I've learned of this company so far. I will keep updating the portion of Stella and Dot Blog, as I learn more. I have a gut feeling this one is the next huge hit in Party Plan. This company is obviously very intriguing to me!
The only thing I find a little confusing is their name it's; Luxe Jewels by Stella and Dot. I have noticed some of the personalized websites of the stylists are just "Luxe Jewels" but, when you research more of the company info, the company refers to itself as "Stella and Dot". I'm not crazy about that, maybe it's just me. Anyway if you google Stella and Dot you are sure to be directed to a site full of info and products. Have fun.

Just thought I'd let you know about another favorite of mine!

*"And now for our finale, vermeil . (pronounced vur-may) Vermeil is produced by coating sterling silver with carat gold. A base metal is never used. Sometimes referred to as gilded silver, vermeil is made using the process of electrolysis — electricity and an acid bath — to attach the gold to sterling. To be considered vermeil, the gold must also be at least 10-carat and be at least 1.5 micrometers thick. This layer of gold is thicker than that applied using the electroplating process and will far outwear a gold plated item."

I "borowed" the above paragraph about vermeil from Danielle Redner's Stella and Dot Website. Thanks, Danielle.

Cheers,

Kim

Hi, I'm wondering if you would know where I can find good quality jewelry supplies? I am planning on taking jewelry making classes and want to start looking into the supplies but I don't want to buy cheap stuff, well, reasonable priced but not cheap in quality.

Thank You!

I am a Stella Dot stylist. And I love it. The jewels are really top notch for the price range.

The reason why Luxe and Stella Dot shows up it is because Stella Dot is part of Luxe Jewels, they used to do jewelry making party under the name Luxe and Stella Dot started in March of 2008 just selling jewelry.

And Christina if you want to use good quality supply check out viamurano.com I sell their sterling silver jump rings and bead crimps top notch for supplies. You can also check out my shop petitespoon.etsy.com for their supplies.

Best,
Yvonne

Hello,

I am considering a Stella & Dot business. Can you tell me how consultants earn a BMW?

Thank you.

Hi All,

I just ran into your blog while searching the Web, and it's super cute! I love the background.. the pink and brown is great!

I am a Stylist with Stella & Dot and my experience so far has been really fantastic. I actually closed my Avon account (I was with Avon for 6 years) recently to really pursue my S&D business. It's made me more money than Avon ever did in my 6 years with them.

And someone asked a question on how to earn the BMW? The rewards program is based on points. Every dollar that you sell, you earn one point. Every dollar that your team sells, you get half a point. The BMW is a total of 75,000 points... There is also a trip to Cabo San Lucas that is less points (I htink a trip for 1 is 35,000 and the trip for 2 is about 60,000, if I remember correctly.)

Any other questions about my experience or about the company in general... Please don't hesitate to email me at GotStella@yahoo.com

Hope this is of some help.
Erin

Hello there, I found your blog doing a search for Stella & Dot. Thanks so much for posting about them! I am a brand new Stylist for them and I really love it. Their jewelry just stood out to me because it is so fresh and fun and one of the things that really sold me is that there are no formal presentations at the party!

I just stumbled upon your (very cute btw) blog while looking for info about Stella & Dot.

If I can add to the comments, I have fallen in love with Stella & Dot jewelry. I saw it one day, and have signed up the following day to sell it.

I used to sell Pampered Chef while working as a full time RN. I could have quit nursing to sell kitchen stuff, it just sold itself where I was living at the time.

I get the same feeling from this Jewelry line. Their quality is amazing, lifetime warranty, and you get to wear it anywhere you go, with a little stack of business cards in your pocket to make new contacts potentially daily...

Throw in the press coverage they are getting with the celebrity interest in the pieces, and how ground level the members still are-just over 1000 in North America total!! (Imagine being level 3 consultant with tupperware back in the day... I am level 3 in Canada with the stylists here so far-meaning there are only 2 above me!!!)

If others come to this beautiful little site and would like more information on the company, I'd be happy to share what I have to tell about it-how to have your own trunk show, or how to sign up to sell.

Kathy

Does anyone believe that it is REALLY good quality, though? The earring posts are really flimsy and bend easily and some of the pieces do turn color. I am thinking about becoming a stylist, but I do worry about the quality as I do not want to sell inferior stuff. Help! Any thoughts, stylists? I really, really would appreciate your thoughts.

Hi, In regard to the recent post about quality...I don't think its a question about quality as much as it is Quality Control. I am a new stylist and when receiving my samples I was disappointed that some of the pieces I received should never have made it out the door. On my Charlize necklace the main stone was cracked in 2 pieces! It was damaged in shipping, it was obvious that it was assembled from a damaged stone (not stone...it's plastic which is kinda cheap). I think this comes from poor QA outside the US. I have concerns that my clients will experience similar issues and stop buying.

The company needs to make serious improvements in this respect. Other than that, for the most part, there are a lot of pieces I really adore and I get tons of compliments on them.

I have been a stylist with Stella and Dot for almost a year. I love the jewellery but I must admit that a lot of people I know find the prices very expensive. I have not had a lot of success making money on this venture but I always knew that I wouldn't. I really enjoy the chance to buy the jewellery for myself at stylist prices at the beginning of the new seasons!!!

I must admit that I have been having quite a few problems with a lot of defective and substandard pieces of jewellery. The exchange policy is fairly good but I have been hearing that other stylists are really finding that they are also having problems. I am not feeling very confident with their quality control at their distribution centres. I have made several comments at Head Office but have not seen much of an improvement.

It is unfortunate because the jewellery is gorgeous although a bit overpriced. The company has great programs to earn extra jewelly as a stylist and a wonderful help line when you need to return merchandise or have any questions regarding the business.

Good to know. I am curious how much the average Stella and Dot rep nets. I wonder if they are working on the quality control issues?

Hey, I was just checking out the Stella and Dot website. I love the Bee Charm Bracelet and the Garden Party Necklace is to die for. I'm thinking with basic black clothes those items can really be a "show stopper".
-Hope the quality is a 10 otherwise, what's the point in speading that kind of money?

Hi, I've been with two other jewelry companies and didn't do much with them, deep down I guess I just wasn't in love with the product. One of the companies wants the consultant to play "games", this turned me off. I fell in love with the Stella and Dot jewelry, but with the economy the way it is I'm a bit scared with the prices, I feel I will have to concentrate on the more "upscale" neighborhoods, I'm a very energetic grandmother and get the impression this is more for the younger crowd. HELP!, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Stalla & Dot started out as Luxe Jewels - a company that taught making the jewelry instead of ready made like it is now. This new company made many fast changes and consultants that were loyal to the original concept had a hard time adjusting to the constant turmoil in process. Very few consultants in direct sales make much profit and this company's product will be no different regardless of the name or direction. Nothing can replace a regular paycheck and benefits, that BMW won't get braces on your kid's teeth or pay for your knee replacement surgery or contribute to your retirement. Enjoy the jewelry but don't figure it as a career you can bank on.

Hi.. I had never heard of Stella & Dot until about 3 weeks ago when a friend invited me to a party. I had just hosted my own Premier Designs party the week before and she came to that.. so I felt I should go to hers.

I have to say.. i was pretty shocked at the prices. $130 for a necklace.. and no "deals" were offered (ie Buy 2 get 1 half off, etc).

The jewelry is OK, but it really didn't seem to be any better or worse in quality then the party I had hosted for P.D... and my PD stylist was offering buy 2 items, get a 3rd 1/2 off - and the 3rd Item could be the most expensive. Most people bought a necklace, bracelet and either ring or earrings for about $100 with that deal.. and I had almost $1400 in total sales.

They wanted me to host a Stella & Dot party, but I declined.. I knew my friends would be not to happy with the price jump. Anyway.. just wanted to post my comments.. but I do like my necklace (I got the Chase Neckace and Coin Pearl Earrings)!

I am disappointed with my experience thus far with Stella & Dot... I have issues with the samples i purchased.... problems with the posts and the earring backs on several pair of earrings, problem with the lobster clasp on the la coco piece (the clasp does not close easily), problem with the blook flower brooch.. (the straight pin is barely long enough to stay put under the lip thingy and therefore comes undone while i wear it.. In addition, i have only recently become a stylist and am having a tough time getting women to book a trunk show... even though i have heavily marketed it and sent out hundreds of mini look books with a custome designed introduction of my new buisness,,,
i hear to main things: too expensive and too trendy.. I happen to love the look, but I am having a difficult time with ohter people loving it, to top it off, the one thing people have liked is the charms and since i have started with S&D, most of what someone wants from me is out of stock!!!... I kept on a neighbor of mine who just loves jewerly, especially vintage looking... she called me yesterday to finally place an order (about $250.00 for two items) Guess what? they are both out of stock until mid to end of January... perhaps S&D has grown too fast....

I have been with Stella & Dot for 6 months & have loved every single minute. This is the 4th direct sales company I've joined & the last. Seriously, you'll be hard pressed to find a company that works like this one does.

Do I pay for my business materials? Nope. I was paying ridiculous money for catalogs & PR material with another direct sales company which really dug into my profits. I'm currently sitting on over $200 in business credits will pay for all of my business supplies for the fall line. Loooooove that!

Do I pay for new samples? Nope. In my first 100 days of business, I earned $1500 in jewelry ON TOP of my 30% commission.

I love the company because it has no gimmicks. I run my business the way I want to. There's no scripted schpiel that I have to give. There's no "if you buy right now I'll give you ____". But what I love the MOST is the support that the consultants give each other. There's no air of competition that I have experienced.

I saw some posts about quality issues, which is too bad. From my experience, my return rate is about 1% - well below the industry standard & the returns were ridiculously easy to do.

My absolute fave thing about Stella & Dot? My cheque from last month booked our trip to Disneyland for my daughter's 4th birthday. This company works when you work and I love that.

@Kat - I'd love to see some of your work - you should have provided a link!

Notice on the S&D website that they don't have customer reviews?! I think that is by design. They really need to work out the QA issues. I returned the mira stone earrings I ordered. I wore them a few times and the "gold" plating became really tarnished. I have one of those polishing cloths that is supposed to remove tarnish from jewelry but I tried it and it didn't do a thing.

I have been a stylist for three months and am not impressed with the quality of the jewelry!! I have invested around $1,000 into jewelry samples only to find several pieces are falling apart. Diamonds are coming out of ear rings and necklaces, the gold plated pieces are turning an awful yellow-orange color (after just three months), and I could go on. The pieces that are turning colors, I had ordered from a friend's party a week before I signed up, and Stella & Dot will not even exchange the pieces because of the 90 day policy. So a stylist should expect to reorder these two pieces (costing $128.00) every three months? I can't sell this jewelry to my friends and family, because I feel bad selling them expensive jewelry that has a shelf life of 60 days. These two pieces were maybe worn twice. Ridiculous!

I attended a Stella & Dot party a few weeks ago and my boyfriend got me the Deco Stackable Rings for Valentine's Day. I have been wearing them for 10 days now and they are turning my finger green. Doesn't seem like very good quality for $50. The jewelery is pretty but nowhere near good quality, not for the price anyway. I will not be buying from them again. Oh and my mom ordered a pair of earrings and they sent her the wrong ones and would not refund her money or do and exchange.
